141103 Skype meeting about Feedback on final ideas
Skype meeting on 03/11/14
- Bedside plant incubator : We see the development in design and shape of the planter and we liked it. Though we understood how you guys interpreted the concept and developed it as a planter and the bedside light, we don’t think the two ideas need to be combined.
- Bedside lights : We all agreed that the bedside lamp is the most feasible idea for the concept and wanna develop it. We really like the idea using a cardboard but it is unsure how it would be when the lamp with the cardboard is turned off.
When developing the lamp, we thought it will be great if you think more about the applying the ‘height’. It shouldn’t be the way of using a pole, but since it is light by using a paper, it can be hold on a ceiling or located somewhere upper than the children’s sight. As it is, it feels like just a light that resembles a duck or a bird, and we thought it would be better to think more about height since it is a light motivated from a Sotdae.
We think that as a commercial product, the cutlery set is the most appealing and think that it could be a really nice promotional product for children. Don’t see why it couldn’t be educational in some way too, potentially just graphics on the place matt that gives suggestions about the food growing process as opposed to just an image of agricultural landscape (which is still nice!)
Did you have any ideas around the processes for manufacture? in terms of form, it would be really nice to maintain the ‘tool’ shapes that you have highlighted in your sketches. If you can design something halfway between the modern images you have found and the traditional forms it could make for a really nice set. Some ergonomic consideration would be an idea, just so that they are actually comfortable to hold.
The sharing idea feels a bit more scientific now with the extra pot partition element, which we think makes it stronger as a concept. There are many levels to encourage learning and value of food; The partition idea provides more complexity that encourages children to understand the process on a deeper level and hopefully make them more interested in the process.
The ‘Harvest’ like designs make it all look much more appealing to children and we like how you have illustrated how the system could still work within a more complex shape.
I hope you like the video i posted up previously… thought it applied to this idea quite nicely. It also show that education about farming and ‘growing your own’ is current. The link below is to FACE: a charity organisation involved in getting children more involved in farming, agriculture and food production.

With regards to development, perhaps look at integrating some element of learning into the cutlery idea, even if it is just graphical.
And for the sharing pots, have a think about how these pots might be made and transported as a set. Could the salad bowl be the base casing for the various individual pots?
- Firstly, I was so glad that my idea was selected as a final idea. I thought all the ideas of our team was good to develop as a product but it was different feeling when mine was decided as the thing.
- When exchanging each other's feedback, there was not much problem, and all the comments were clear. But I heard that other team(the team with Yooseon) did feedback in very detailed way. They made some category in evaluate the ideas and gave some points in each category. It made them to compare the ideas and aware about which aspect is weak and strong, and how to develop. I thought it is a very good way to give feedback and someday I'll try to use that way.
